Cassedega Colour by torstan Cassedega Colour by torstan
Cassedega is actually two cities, one above the water and one below. They were created on the ruins of an ancient city lost to the deep, and recently resurfaced. The new communities live in the rubble of the old and make a living delving into the ruins.

This was created for Sunken Empires by Open Design [link] It's definitely worth checking out. This is rights reserved.

This is currently on show in the Terra Incognita Gallery Show. You can find the print listing here: [link]

Why do I always go back to this one, looking for mysterious whispers that could tell me how the heck you did it? Can't pull my eyes out of it. Really nice!
Well... see you tomorrow then :P

:) I should write up a tute on that one. There was a lot of trial and error in its creation.

The basic step is - draw one city map, wreck it, draw second city map on top in the ruins!

Thanks :) It was a good exercise in figuring out how to do automate it and still have it look organic and hand drawn.

Yep, this took some doing. I had to effectively draw 3 cities to create this one. Thanks - I'm really glad you like it.

Cool, I found the color one!
So the undersea dwellers would be like Troglodytes or Mermen?
That's so cool the live off the treasure they find below.
I love the circular surface shapes!

Indeed, they are mermen. They excavate the ruins below the waves, whilst those of upper Cassedega excavate above. They trade in the floating market.

Glad you like it! And thanks for the compliments. Much appreciated.

Wow! I can totally picture the market scene, with all kinds of scaffolding and docks connecting "house boat" like shops, and the whole the gently rising and falling with the waves.
Very inspiring!

Yep - it was a fun location to be given to map. The book it came from has a lot of that flavour in it - it was a luscious art brief :)
